Saturday 7th May 2005
Our traditional opening of the grass court season was held on Saturday 7th May, with a fun open day and coffee morning with danish.
The coffee morning began at 10am, which traditionally opens the grass courts. Coffee was enjoyed by all with fresh danish to spice up the morning, courtesy of our very own Claude Verite. A sterling effort (as always) from Ros in the kitchen, with numerous helpers at hand.
In tandem with this, our annual Play Tennis Open Day was hosted by Russell and Rob. Russell set about the organisation of the day, with Rob taking control of on-court activities.

With rain bouncing off the windscreen at 9am, it must be admitted that luck was on our side, as the sunshine breaking through by 10am was just in time to save the day. Our activities went un-abashed right through to close of play at tea-time, with fabulous blue sky and sunshine in abundance.
Indeed the day was a huge success, with again approaching several hundred people enjoying the opportunity to play our blessed game. Young and old, from afar and near-by, we entertained the masses as they sought to find that ellusive form, perhaps with a tint of Tim on their minds....
Well done to everyone who lended a hend in running such a superb day.
